As Hurricane Arthur nears its arrival on the Outer Banks all disaster preparations should be completed.  Everyone in Dare County is advised to remain indoors and stay in place as conditions will dramatically worsen as Hurricane Arthur approaches Dare County,  The storm will produce gale force winds on Hatteras Island by 8:00 p.m. tonight and on the northern Dare County beaches by 10:00 p.m.  Hurricane force winds will develop on Hatteras Island by 1:00 a.m. Friday and on the northern beaches by 2:30 a.m.

The National Weather Service forecasts ocean overwash and soundside flooding throughout Dare County.  The latest storm track presents a serious threat of ocean overwash and soundside flooding throughout the County.

Refuges of Last Resort announced previously will remain open through the storm.  However, travel during times of high winds is not recommended.
